Location, location and location
When choosing a corporate charter company, location is an important consideration. Like practically every other corporate charter company, we operate in the Solent. Unlike most, we operate from the best all-round base: Ocean Village, close to the centre of Southampton.
The Solent – the strip of water separating the Isle of Wight from the mainland – is world-famous as a yachting area. It is sheltered from the ocean swell that can affect the Channel, so it generally offers relatively smooth sailing. But if a gale hits, it generally blows from the south-west straight up the western Solent, and generates pretty rough conditions in the central Solent. Starting from Southampton, we are able to stay in the even more sheltered waters of Southampton Water, which means we can operate when yachts based in Lymington or Portsmouth have to stay tied up.
Southampton has about the best communications of any Solent port, with fast and frequent rail services from London and an urban motorway running right into the city. It has smart business hotels near the waterfront and Ocean Village. And Ocean Village itself has the splendid club-house of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club overlooking the marina. Our principal, Chris Gill, is a member – so we are able to use the club's facilities for your event. We routinely start our corporate events with the sailor's traditional breakfast of bacon butties served in the club.
