Silicon Cup
17 – 18 September 2009
Thursday – Friday, with the option of some weekend cruising too
This regatta aimed at the IT business – and formerly called the IT Regatta – is now well established. The first event took place in the summer of 2000 and in recent years has attracted 55 to 75 entries. This year the organisers are aiming to pull in 85 entries. Your IT firm (or IT department) could be one of them.
Entry is open not only to IT vendors but also IT departments and others associated with the industry. Most participants are high-level industry professionals and big decision-makers. The event takes place in Cowes on the Isle of Wight – the boats are based in Cowes Yacht Haven, where all of the social events take place.
The racing involves a practice race on the Thursday and two ‘serious’ races on the Friday. The social scene is as important as the racing – there are plenty of excellent 'apres-sail' events; lots of parties, late-night music and a good deal of drinking. It's a well-respected industry social event – and great fun!
This event takes place at the end of the week – Thursday and Friday, with the major social event being a dinner on the Friday night. The basic plan is to charter your yacht for the three days Thursday – Saturday, with the option of adding Sunday.
We have two magnificent First 47.7s available for this event. Use the email link below or call 0844 9911 477 for more information.
