Embarkation – Southampton or Cowes
Charter guests joining a yacht for the day need to be on board an hour before the yacht leaves the dock, to allow time for a detailed safety briefing, issue of waterproofs, adjustment of lifejackets etc.
Yachts based in Southampton will be leaving about 0900 if racing, so you will need to be on board by 0800. If cruising, the start time is more flexible; we would aim to be back in Southampton by 1630; if racing, we would expect to be back by then, but it might be later if the wind fails to live up to the expectations of the race committee who set the course.
Yachts based in Cowes will be able to leave the dock later - some time between 0930 and 1000 - but of course you have to cross to the island. Fast catamarans from Town Quay, Southampton, take just over 20 minutes and run several times an hour. The service is operated by Red Funnel. A special somewhat slower service will also be operated from Lymington by Blue Funnel Cruises.
Our yachts based in Cowes will return to their moorings after racing, and charter guests will then be able to celebrate in the beer tent before making tracks for the mainland.
