Racing at Cowes Week
Our First 47.7 Pi Squared will be entered for the whole regatta and (conditions permitting) with a pro crew of three will be able to take part in the racing with only a bit of help from our guests. However, we hope and expect that our guests will play a full part in sailing the boat – that’s why you’re with us, we presume.
There is one race per day for the big-yacht classes, usually starting between 1030 and 1100, either off Cowes (the famous Royal Yacht Squadron start line) or a couple of miles away where a committee boat will be moored to define the start line. The races take 3 to 5 hours, depending on the weather and how well the organisers have tailored the course to the wind during the day.
Lunch will be a simple affair consisting of filled baguettes, fruit and snack bars, with mineral water and of course tea and coffee (sorry, no booze while racing).
The timing of the day from the guest’s point of view depends on whether you are joining in Southampton or Cowes – see Embarkation page.
The cost depends on the day of the week you want to sail – give us a call to discuss the options.
